Some have questioned the different appearance of the angles between the two gauges. The angles are exactly the same on both. We used a larger triangular cutout* on our reproduction, (same angles), to give the cutting point of the tool more room. The SBL’s gage was originally stamped and we found that where the triangular cutout intersects the little circle was sometimes pinched too tight or left a burr not allowing the tool to register properly.
